We had a blast welcoming our future sharks at last night's Coming to Kindergarten Celebration! Sharing with permission from Mrs. Bosso who is among the 40+ SV families and 200+ WASD families that drove by last night!

Summitview Elementary would like to thank everyone who came out to our Kindergarten Drive-Thru event this evening! Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we worked through the flow of traffic. It was a wonderful event and we served over 200 incoming Kindergarten families. If you missed the event, packets on registration are available in the bin out front at the Clayton Avenue Administration office. Have a great evening and welcome class of 2034!

Sharks had lots of fun last Friday during Student Council's pajama day (we raised over $300 for charities selected by student council)!
We also welcomed Shippensburg Area SD administrators, Dr. Chris Suppo, superintendent, and Ms. Sheri Woodall, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for a short visit. They were interested in learning more about our COVID safety protocols as we have been successfully open for in-person learning. As of Friday, we are very proud of being open for 77 In-Person Learning days and 13 Remote Learning Days. Our success is a testament to the hard work of our staff and our collaboration with our families. Our protocols do not allow visitors but we felt it was important to make an exception and be a Harper Helper to our neighbors in Shippensburg. It was my privilege to share our reopening plan and I know Dr. Suppo and Ms. Woodall were thrilled to see the enthusiasm of our learners who are excited to learn in the building!

If you are looking for an opportunity to get outside, check out the Story Walk at Pine Hill Recreational Area! This Story Walk is presented through a partnership between Washington Township, Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, and WASD!

6. Reminder about afternoon dismissal. To ensure the safety of our learners, please communicate any changes for your child’s afternoon transportation IN WRITING the morning of the change. Examples would include a different person picking up your child or walking home instead of getting picked up. We understand that emergencies do happen but we have had an increase in the number of last minute changes called in to the office in the afternoon. Please make last minute changes before 2:00 pm so that we have adequate time to communicate those changes to the teacher.
7. Reminder about morning arrival. If your child is a car rider, adults should remain in their vehicle and pull all the way up to the staff member on duty. If your child requires assistance getting out of the vehicle and/or carrying his/her things to the door, please park in the side parking lot and use the crosswalk to come to school.
