WAMS Students

Last month, WAMS counselors became aware of a project created by Transforming Health, a partnership between WITF, Capital Blue, and Wellspan Health . This project, Fill PA With Love, involved sending postcards to various hospitals, nursing facilities, shelters, etc.. to be distributed to individuals receiving their services. Because so many people have experienced isolation throughout this past year, the goal of the postcard project was to send caring words to those in need of a little kindness and cheer.  Transforming Health provided us with 1,000 pre-addressed, pre-stamped postcards, which were created with some colorful pictures of nature’s beauty, including flowers, leaves, and clouds.

WAMS students shared in the task of writing encouraging notes of love and support on these postcards, some adding artwork, prayers, and quotes. One by one, all 1,000 cards were filled with positive messages for fellow Pennsylvanians, in hopes of brightening their days and reminding them that they have not been forgotten. On Friday, 3/12, the postcards were delivered to our local post office, and are now on their way to various locations around the state, including our very own hospital here in Waynesboro. We hope our students have helped to not only spread love around PA, but learned the importance of showing kindness and compassion to others, and to understand the power of an encouraging word.
