A few reminders and informational items as we move into the last month of the school year!

Calendar Reminders:

  • Wednesday, May 1 - Progress reports posted to the Sapphire Community Web Portal

  • Friday, May 10 - WASHS following a pep rally schedule due to the prom pep rally, beginning at 1:45 pm

  • Keystone Exams (no PLT on Keystone Exam Days)

    • Literature - May 13 & May 14

    • Algebra - May 15 & May 16

    • Biology - May 20 & May 21

  • Monday, May 27 - No School for Students & Staff

  • Friday, May 30 - Last Day of School for Students (FULL SCHOOL DAY - stay tuned for information about WASHS field day!)

Second, the April edition of the WASHS Newsletter can be accessed HERE. In addition to our regular newsletter segments, check out the CareerTech Newsletter, Prom Spirit Week themes and Prom information (including links to guest forms which are due TUESDAY, APRIL 30 by 3:00 pm), April students of the month, and updates from the counseling department, nurse, and about Leader in Me.

Third, Prom is coming up on Saturday, May 18. Students interested in bringing an outside guest must submit the COMPLETED guest form, including all signatures and copy of photo ID, to the WASHS main office by Tuesday, April 30 by 3:00 pm. Links to the guest forms and expectations form for WASHS learners are included in the April newsletter. Prom will be held at Penn State Mont Alto - information about parking and other logistics will be shared the week of May 13.

Fourth, for those of you who attended Fairview Elementary - Mrs. Mummert, who teaches general music and chorus, is retiring at the end of the 2024-25 school year. A surprise flashmob is planned for Mrs. Mummert - please consider attending the concert on Tuesday, May 7 and join in singing “Thank you for the Music” by ABBA! Additional details were sent to students via their WASD email.

Finally, some information items/reminders for graduating seniors:

  • Cap and Gown pick up will be on Tuesday, April 30 in the auditorium lobby from 7:30 - 9:30 am. Instructions for care and attaching tassel to cap will be provided - please make sure to take the cap and gown out of the bag as soon as possible! If you plan to participate in commencement but did not yet order a cap and gown, cap and gown sets will be available for purchase on the 30th - cost is $55. Extra tassels are available fro $10. (Cash only!)

  • Check out the WASHS Commencement info on our WEBSITE.
    The site includes a link to pre-order flowers and other gifts through our partner, The Commencement Group. The Commencement Group will be set up at graduation to pick up pre-ordered items. A limited selection will also be available for cash/credit purchase at that time.

  • Please remind your graduate to check their WASD email for three important forms sent to them:

    • Diploma Name Verification (sent from Mrs. McCleaf)

    • Class of 2024 Graduation Participation & Tickets (sent from Mrs. McCleaf) - each graduate will receive 10 tickets. This form is used to request handicapped seating and extra tickets (if available)

    • Graduation Walking Partners (sent by Dr. McCallum)
