Aevidum

The WASHS Aevidum Club hosted a Strides Against Stigma walk on April 5th, 2024. This walk was held in rememberance of those who have been lost due to suicide and to show support to one another for mental health concerns. The club wanted to show everyone that mental health is not something to hide, in hopes of shattering the stigma surrounding mental health. We had over 40 Aevidum Club members helping to create this atmosphere of support, and had over 1,000 learners walk in support. After taking two laps of the gym together, participants participated in several activities including yard games, coloring, face painting, and treats baked by our special education classes. Aevidum club members designed a t-shirt that was sold to raise funds for Aevidum. We are so proud of Aevidum and our school!

Aevidum 1Aevidum 2Aevidum 3Aevidum, which means "I've got your back" in Latin, was a club started in 2003 at Cocalico High School in Lancaster County, PA following the death of a student due to suicide. The school community "refused to remain silent and began an important conversation about mental health and suicide prevention." You can learn more about Aevidum HERE.
