The Waynesboro Area School District offers evening classes and testing for both the GED® and HiSET® high school equivalency exams. Those who pass either test will receive the Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma, Pennsylvania’s official high school equivalency credential.
Free classes are held at the Waynesboro Area Senior High School in the library from September through May, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 8:30 PM when school is in session. English is offered on Tuesday evenings and Math is offered on Thursday evenings. Science and Social Studies instruction will occur during either session.

Show-up on one of the nights that classes are offered. Classes are held in the high school library. Park in the upper parking lot and enter through the left rear door. Look for the GED sign posted on E. 2nd Street.
Both the GED and HiSET tests are offered two Friday evenings each month from 6 – 10:00PM during the school year. The GED is a computer based exam. The HiSET is a paper based exam. To register go to GED.com or hiset.ets.org. The cost of the GED test is $30 per each of 4 sections; $120 total. The cost of the HiSET test is $18 per each of 5 sections; $90 total.

Who is Eligible?
Any Pennsylvania resident 18 years of age or older not currently enrolled in an approved or licensed secondary school. Some exceptions apply.
