In order to maintain consistency across WASD at the elementary and secondary levels and provide consistency for learners and staff, WASD is establishing the following parameters in place to ensure the continued success of every key stakeholder within the WASD school community. While we encourage each of our learners to follow their First Choice and the learning path that is best for them, we also need to be mindful that being successful in education requires consistency and a strong partnership with WASD and the familieswe serve. The October conference times will be utilized to evaluate the overall engagement of all our learners and may require additional recommendations for future success. Although we are committed to providing the VERY best to all our learners in both the traditional and hybrid format, it is apparent that some of our learnersare really struggling within the hybrid learning model. Parental partnerships are essential in education but especially important if your child has elected a hybrid learning model.

In regards to our hybrid learning option and our traditional classroom option, as a district we are putting the following measures in place after the October 7-9, 2020 conferences:

● October 12th - November 13th - WASD learners will be committed to the option selected by the parent. Requests can be made to switch options but will not be honored until November 16th.

● November 16th - February 25th- WASD learners will be committed to the option selected by the parent. Requests can be made to switch options but will not be honored until February 26th.

● February 26th - June 3rd- Learners will be committed to the option selected by the parent.  We will not honor any requests to switch options during the final trimester.

WASD encourages all families to keep the lines of communication open in regards to what is the best learning option for your child. It is important to remember that all WASD policies in regards to learning are adhered to whether the hybrid option or traditional classroom instruction is chosen. We, as a district, are here to support you and help you make the best decisions for your child, but also keep in mind that we are establishing these parameters in place to offer consistency for all stakeholders.
